Central & Western Shore

Dockwa and Snag-A-Slip are useful for finding transient berths. Many marinas offer good protection from Long Island Sound weather. Fuel, pump-out, and haul-out services are widely available along the coast.

Marine Surveyors

Connecticut has several well-regarded accredited surveyors, especially in the Mystic and Essex areas. Use the official SAMS and NAMS directories for the most current list and to match specific needs (sail vs. power, etc.).

Brokerages

Connecticut has a healthy sailboat market, especially on Long Island Sound. Many brokers are based in Mystic, Essex, and the western shoreline.

The strong one-design and cruising communities on the Sound make Connecticut a good place to find well-maintained used sailboats.

Sailing Clubs & Resources

The Long Island Sound racing scene is very strong. Many clubs welcome new members and offer social memberships even without a boat. Mystic and Essex are particularly vibrant hubs.
